WASHINGTON, Oct. 10 New Zealand. Australia and Ireland have voluntarily agreed to limit their exports of colby cheese, junex and frozen cream to the United States this year and in 1904.

Colby cheese is similar to Cheddar cheese. Junex, a butterfat-eugar product contaiotng not mo*e than 44 per cent butterfat, and frozen cream are used in the manufacture of ice cream The Secretary of Agriculture. Mr Orville Freeman said the steps taken should satisfy the concern of American dairy producers that imports might suddenly increase to much higher levels

None of the products is at present subjected to American import quotas although domestic dairy interests have been protesting about

the rising level cf imports Mr Freeman said that New Zealand was the only country shipping frozen cream to the United States He estimated that be exports o' frozen cream to the United States this year would be about one million gallons In 1964, New Zealand would limit exports to 1.500,000 gallons, even though the market probably would be larger. Mr Freeman said imports' of colby cheese would be limited to 11,200.0001 b for the 12-month period ending June 30 1964. Of this. 6.720.0001 b would come from New Zealand 3.360.0001 b from Australia and 1.120.0001 b from Ireland He said imports of colby cheese were expected to drop about 10 per cent below the 12,800.0001 b imported by the United States in the 12-

month period which ended Last June 30. He said Australia would not ship any more junex to the United States in 1963 and would Limit exports to 2.240,000!b in 1964. That would be a reduction of about 33 per cent. Mr Freeman said the United States saw no alternative but resort to tariff action if imports from all sources increased substantially.
