TRAINING FOR LEADERSHIP

Youth Committee’s Plans

The newly-formed Canterbury regional committee of the National Youth Council is interested in starting a leadership training course for youth groups. The committee is formed of representatives of youth groups with a membership of more than 1000, The youth activities officer of the Department of Internal Affairs (Mr L. C. Coughlain) told members at the second meeting of the committee last evening that the youth committee of the National Council of Churches, with other organisations interested in youth leadership, had decided that the formation of district leadership training committees would be in the best interests of youth. The committee agreed that the proposed district leadership training committee in Canterbury should be a committee of the Canterbury Youth Council and this committee should have the power to co-operate with all groups interested in leadership training.
