UMPIRE NEED “DESPERATE”

Christchurch senior cricketera may have to umpire their own matches this season if more members are not found for the Canterbury Umpires Association, according to a report from toe association.

At present there are only nine umpires availiable whereas toe senior grade needs at least 16 umpires to cover aJfi. matches.

The association is appealing to any former players or even cricket enthusiasts to help. An official yesterday described the position as “desperate.”
