W.E.A. ANNUAL DISPLAY
Wide Variety Of Work The published stories and poems of members of the Writers’ Fellowship, original work by members of art classes, and examples of fine embroidery from members of the embroidery and design class are included in the annual display of the work of class and club members of the Workers’ Educational Association. which was opened last evening by the DeputyMayor (Mr H. P. Smith). The diversified display includes exhibits by the Maori language class and the Maori club, the Esperanto club, the Italian and German language classes, the Greek art class, and the botany class. The display will be open until tomorrow. Demonstrations by various clubs will also be provided each evening. This is the first year that the displays and demonstration programmes have been in the W.E.A. centre, and held over a period of days. A play by Mir H. Pointer, the W.E.A. drama tutor, (“The Spade Guinea”), performed by the dramatic society was featured in the demonstration programme last evening. Also in the programme were items by the violin class, reading from their own work by members of the creative English class, and two prepared speeches by members of the debating society. These speeches have already been placed in competitions in Christchurch, Demonstrations tonigiht and tomo'n'ow afternoon and evening will include items by the Spanish and French language classes, the Maori* club, the Writers’ Fellowship, the camera club, the drama class, the Sumner drama class and the Addington Workshops Choir.
Second Child Soon.— King Hussein of Jordan announced in Paris today that his British-bpm wife. Princess Muna, is expected her second child before the end of the week.—Paris, Sept. 11.
