BIZARRE RECORDS

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter — Copyright) MOSCOW, September 11. The striving of Americans for supreme achievements has led to dance orgies, repulsive competitions of gluttons and people spending months on mast tops, according to the Soviet champion weight-lifter, Yuri Vlasov.

Writing in the Soviet Government newspaper, “Izvestia,” Vlasov said that in bourgeois countries, “sport has become a demonstration of the most bestial instincts.”

The article said it was not by chance that “wellintended beauty contests are becoming more and more like crude harem exhibitions of the human body, and receive an openly commercial and sexual colouring.”
