After twisting for 84 hours 42 minutes, 17-year-old Peter Dawkins, the survivor in Timaru’s marathon twisting contest, retired at 10.47 a.m. on Tuesday. Although in good physical condition, Dawkins was mentally exhausted He won £67 tor his effort which was almost 16 hours short of the world record. Gross receipts for the contest were expected to be about £lOOO. About £5OO will go to the Caroline Bay Olympic pool fund.—(P.A.)
