FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone lies to the north of New Zealand, but pressures are very low to the south and south-west. Forecast:— Marlborough.—Northwesterly winds, strong about the Sounds, elsewhere moderate; partly cloudy and mild. Outlook: partly cloudy. Nelson.—Fresh westerlies outside Tasman Bay, otherwise moderate variable winds; showery in the western ranges, elsewhere partly cloudy and mild. Outlook: little change. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northerly winds; overcast, with intermittent rain in Buller, but more persistent rain in Westland; moderate temperatures. Outlook: periods of rain. Canterbury.—North-westerlies freshening at times, especially inland; periods of rain in the alps and but'elsewhere partly cloudy, with mild to warm day temperatures. Outlook: little change.
