PROFUMO’S FAULTS

Archbishop's Comment (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) PERTH, September 9, Ttie Anglican Archbishop of Perth, the Most Rev. George Appleton, told a television audience last evening he admired the way the former War Minister, Mr John Profumo, had handled his situation. “He (Mir Profumo) had admitted his faults, he has resigned from positions of trust and honour and is going to try to build his life in a new way,” he said. Archbishop Appleton added: “That is something which someone ought to express appreciation of, and I do.

“You can weigh that when you compare it with what happened tg the other main character in this situation, who aroused much criticism but ought also arouse some compassion.”

Archbishop Appleton • said he was referring to moral standards which, he said, ha found had become lax in England when he returned there after .World War 11.
