THE CHRISTCHURCH-LYTTELTON ROAD TUNNEL.—A utility vehicle leaving the Heathcote end of the tunnel yesterday. Tiles have been laid half way up the wall. The ridge below the pipe on the left is for the roof, and the area above the roof will be divided into two parts for ventilation ducts. The tunnel floor is 24ft wide for two lanes of traffic, and on either side there will be a 2ft pavement.
