When Mr G. C. Bruce, manager of the Taranaki Rugby team which won the Ranfurly Shield from Wellington on Saturday, announced at the public welcome to the team at New Plymouth on Sunday that it was the twenty-ninth birthday of the Taranaki captain. R. H. Brown, the crowd of more than 10.000 began singing “Happy Birthday to You.”—(P.A.)
