MILFORD CUT OFF
Avalanche At Tunnel (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL Aug. 28. The Milford road was closed today after an avalanche last night blocked the east portal of the Homer tiunnel. The avalanche was caused by warm rains which have been falling this week, setting in t>he spring thaw. Ministry of Works men will open the road as soon as they can get machinery there As far as is known, no-one is stranded -in the sound as a result of the avalanche.
