Empire Way Filly “The Preis" Special Service MATAMATA, Aug. 26. The former top class English racehorse. Empire Way. had his first run and first winner on Saturday. The filly Alarm Bell, by Empire Way from Scream, won over half a mile on a sodden track in Adelaide in 491,sec. She ran a second faster than did the colts in their division. Empire Way is probably the best performed galloper to come here from England since Faux Tirage, which was the sire of this filly's dam Scream. Confirmation of the win was received on Sunday from the filly's Adelaide trainer, C Hayes, who purchased her at the National Yearling Sales at Trentham last January for 800 guineas.
