RESEARCH ON CANCER

Programme For Expansion (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 25. Cancer research may be stepped up throughout New Zealand under a nationally co-ordinated programme providing substantial finance is available, says the president of the Auckland division of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society, Mr John Grierson, in his annual report. Golden Kiwi lottery funds may be sought for the programme. The society’s New Zealand branch is discussing largescale expansion prospects with its divisions, he says. “Any financial aid which may become available from lottery funds, in the form of subsidy or direct grant for cancer research, will be devoted to a specifically expanded research programme,’’ Mr Grierson says. “The programme will depend on a constant source of funds over a long period," he says.
