CURRENT NOTES

Concert Programme.—A concert programme was arranged recently as part of a special effort being made by members of the Canterbury Women's Club to raise funds for the improvement of their building for their golden jubilee year. The programme was as follows: Mr W. and Nola Hamilton (vocal duets); Eve Fulton, Grace Harrall, David Bishop, Robert McIntosh (vocal solos); Joyce Bull (violin solos); Mabel Mason and Hilda Reeve (pianoforte duets); Hilda Cooper (elocution); D. Cooper and D. Pashby (sketches); accompanists, Mabel Mason and Hilda Reeve; compere, Mr Williams Hamilton.

New Secretary.— Mrs L. M. Bernacchi, of Christchurch, has been appointed secretary of the Canterbury and West Coast branch of the N.Z. Crippled Children Society. She succeeds Mrs J. MillerMead, who is retiring after seven years as secretary. Mrs Bernacchi has been the asssitant public relations officer in the Canterbury Public Relations Office. After a short trip to Australia, she will take up her new appointment in early October.

Kindergarten Conference.— Delegates from all over New Zealand will attend the tenth Dominion executive meeting of the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Teachers’ Association to be held in Weilington from August 27-29. Christchurch delegates are Misses J. Mcßride and M. Ramsay. The opening speaker will be the supervisor of preschool services. Miss M, Gallagher.
