Big Nuclear
Break-Through (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, August 22.
Russia today claimed to have discovered a new type of radio-active decay called proton radio-activity. Soviet scientists have hailed the step as a major break-through in nuclear research. “Izvestia” said proton radioactivity had been predicted by world scientists, but noone had been able to prove it experimentally. Five types of radio-active decay had been known to scientists before: alpha-radio-activity, beta-radio-activity, gamma-radio-activity, spontaneous fission and emission of so-called delayed neutrons.
