Christ’s College Beaten In Rugby Tournament

WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. Wanganui Collegiate School and Wellington College win meet in the final of the annual quadrangular Rugby tournament at Wellington College on Monday. In matches on Saturday, Wellington College beat Christ’s College 11-0 and Wanganui Collegiate School drew with Nelson College 9-9.
As Nelson last contested the final, Wanganui thus qualified for this year’s final.
In the Wellington-Christ’s College match play was scrappy and the second half, in particular, consisted of little but lineouts and loose, untidy mauls. Wellington went into an early lead as a result of two tries and a conversion, but could only add its other three points towards fulltime. The Christ's College pack had tightened its game
up considerably but Wellington was unable to exploit its many opportunities to the fullest. The Wanganui • Nelson clash provided a direct contrast. The ingredients of hard, rugged forward play and crisp, incisive back movements made thia a thrilling contest. For Nelson tries were scored by S. H. O. Reaney, R. P. Carlsen and A. C. Johnstone and tor Wanganui P. P. A. Harris scored a try and P. R. Young and W. M. N. Barron both kicked penalties.
