Profumo May Buy Castle

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, August 23.

The former British War Minister, Mr John Profumo may be planning to buy an Irish castle, the “Daily Sketch” reported today. The newspaper said there was speculation in Ireland that he had made a bid for a £45,000 castle in County Meath, near Dublin. A Dublin estate agent handling the sale of the castle was quoted as saying it would not surprise him if Mr Profumo was interested; but he refused to confirm that Mr Profumo had made a final bid of £42.000. Mr Profumo and his wife, the former actress, Valerie Hobson, have a London house but have no country home. Mr Profumo’s brother, Major Phillip Profumo, lives in Connemara, on the west coast of Ireland.
