Nevell Takes First Place (N.Z. Press Association) ’ INVERCARGILL, Aug. 21. G. Nevell (Canterbury Winter Sports Club) won the men’s ski jump at Coronet Peak today, with 226.5 points and a jump of 73 feet This was the final event in the New Zealand ski championships which started on Saturday. The snow today was in excellent condition and the weather near perfect. The jump was set up yesterday and competitors were able to practise on it before the event. There were six entrants and all jumped well. Five completed three jumps, but T. Dunlop (Ot?go) attempted only one jump because of an ankle injury suffered earlier in the championships. It was the second time that Nevell had entered for the national ski jump. He was placed third last year. The result was:—

Nevell, 226.5 points, 1; J. Willis (Canterbury W.S.C.), 212 points. 2; P. Willis (Canterbury W.S.C.), 205 points, 3) A. Flower (North Canterbury), 199.5 points, 4; P. H. Crocker (Ski Club of Great Britain), 185.6 points, 5.
