BOYCOTT OF FRANCE
Threat By F.O.L (N.2. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 20. The Federation of Labour will institute an economic boycott if France persists in carrying out nuclear tents in the Pacific. A meeting of the federation's council today also authorised its national executive to consult with the Australian trade union movement on ways of taking “any appropriate steps’ ’ together to block the French move. The president (Mr' T. E. Skinner) said the suggestion of a 24-hour stoppage by workers did not meet with the council's general approval unless it could be proved an effective weapon against France or in forcing the Government’s hand to take some appropriate measures.
