MONEY FOR CHARITY
Three Women’s Bequests Substantial charitable bequests are made im three wills of which probate has been granted in the Supreme Court. After private legacies of £l5OO, the rest of Miss Alice Maud Mary Frostick’s estate is to be divided equally among the Nurse Maude District Nursing Association, the Canterbury Medical Research Foundation, and Town Hall Promotion. Miss Frostick died on June 23, leaving an estate sworn for probate at under £llOOO The bulk of another estate, sworn for probate at under £20,000 is also left to charity. It is the estate of Mrs Laura Pearson, of Lincoln, who died on June 12. She left £5OO each to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, St. Mark's Anglican Church. Greenpark, and St. Mary's Anglican Church, Springston. After directing the method of disposal of her farm property, Mrs Pearson left the rest of her estate to be divided among Canterbury charitable institutions conducted for the care and benefit of the aged, blind, crippled or orphaned children in proportions to be fixed by her trustees. Mrs Catherine Gilchrist, who died on July 10 leaving an estate sworn for probate art under £5OOO, left £2OO to the S.P.C.A., and £lOO to the Salvation Army. The rest of her estate is left in private trusts, but if they fail the money goes to the Salvation Army.
