CHARITY MATCH TRANSPORT
Drivers' Action Appreciated Hie Christchurch Transport Board, the police and the newspapers were very appreciative of the action of the bus drivers who had offered their services free to drive buses for the Police v Combined Newspapers annua! Rugby match, on September 22. the acting chairman of the board's works and traffic committee (Mr H. E. Denton) said yesterday. Mr Denton presented the report of the committee to the board, and it included a recommendation that the practice followed in the past for the match be continued and the drivers sent letters of appreciation. The report said the proceeds from the function which will start at 1.45 pjn . will be given to the Merivale Occupation Centre for Intellectually Handicapped Children. In the past the board had assisted in providing transport from the Square to the Addington Show Grounds, the drivers of the buses giving their services free, and the revenue taken by the board being given to the charity less the running costs of the buses.
