Profit Rises By 6.1 Per Cent (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 18. Walker and Hall (N.Z.), Ltd., Auckland silversmith, raised net profit by £266, or 6.1 per cent, to £4594 in the year ended April 30. In the previous year, profit fell £665 to £4328 The latest result was obtained after providing £345 more for taxation, at £3745, and £250 less for depreciation, at £lBB3. It represents an earning rate of 5.3 per cent on shareholders’ funds up £2584 to £86,280. Earning rate in 1962 was 5.2 per cent. Gross profit advanced £l9B to £35,386, while expenses rose slightly, by £59, to £27,025 Dividend Steady The dividend has been maintained at 8 per cent and again takes £2560 on steady paid capital of £32.000. The company recently announced a one-for-two bonus issue which will raise paid capital to £48,000. Of the £16,000 required. £ll.OOO will come from revenue reserves and £5OOO from unappropriated profits Surplus tax of £6, compared with £lOO in the previous year, was written back and a new item, non-recurring income, less £430 for taxation, took £544, These left a carryforward £2584 higher at £10,251. There was no transfer to general reserve which stands at £35,000.
