Yachting FINN GOLD CUP

Roberts Leads Fleet (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) MEDEMBLIK (Holland), August 17 R. H. Roberts, of Auckland, today sensationally hit the front tn the over-all classification for the International Finn class world championship. He finished seventh in the fourth race today, a performance which took him from seventh to first in the fleet list Roberts represented New Zealand at the 1960 Olympic Games on the Bay of Naples and finished sixth in the fleet. After the fourth race In the present Gold Cup series results are Roberts, 5434 points. 1; Mankin (Russia). 5243. 2: P Werenskiold (Norway), 5190, 3: H. Fogh (Denmark), 5069, 4; B Jacobson (Sweden), 4900, 5; A Nelis (Belgium), 4869, 6. Fogh is the present world champion in the Olympic Flying Dutchman class; and Nells is defending the Finn Gold Cup Fogh won today's race from Nelis. Australians and New Zealanders finished well back in the bunch in today's race. H. Ravdasehl, of Australia, was tenth D. J. Newell, of Auckland, was thirty-seventh; Australia's C. Ryrie, sixty-ninth: and P. H Letcher, of Auckland, eightyfourth D. R. Nixon, of Christchurch, was one hundred and seventeenth.
