SECOND-HALF SUPERIORITY

Boys’ High School Beats Cashmere Held by a determined Cashmere High School pack, and playing into the wind, Boys’ High School had to play hard to establish a 6-5 lead by halftime on Saturday. But the second-half superiority of Boys’ High School was clearly represented In the final score of 255. The teams were:— Boys' High School: B. G. Spear; R. J. Columbus, N. D. Brow (captain). R. G. Tweedie; P. J. Shdoon, J. L. Joseph; R. J. Stanbury; P J- Aitken. W. G. Dailey, R. H. Doell. E. G. Steel, G. R. Stringer, D. D. Smith, C, D. Mouat, J. S. Cameron. Cashmere: A. Walsh; D. McKirdy, W. Thomas. J. Pugh: A. Smith, P. Verdon; A, Ryde; K. Prusas, P. RendaU. S. Carlaw. J. Trevella (captain), M. Foulds, R. McGowan. G. Gotlieb. After only 10 minutes Ryde the Cashmere half-back, scored a good try from the base of the scrum. This was Cashmere’s greatest moment of the game. Gradually Boys' High School dominated the opposition. and the result was some delightful running and passing. The effectiveness of the Boys' High School back play was well illustrated by the fact that the three-quarters (Columbus, Brown and Tweedie) all scored tries from orthodox movements. This testified also to the efficiency of the five-eighths, Sheldon and Joseph. On the other hand, the Cashmere backs could make little of their few opportunities on attack. The Boys' High School forwards dominated all phases of nlay except the line-outs, where Trevella < Cashmere) jumped to some purpose. Stringer and Dailey played strongly in the loose for Boys’ High School. Spear played an outstanding game at full-back. He has an unusually powerful punt which he uses accurately and unhurriedly. For Boys’ High School, M D. Brown (2), R. J. Columbus. R. G. Tweedie, and W. G. Dailey scored tries; B. G. Spear kicked two penalties and two conversions. For Cashmere. A. Ryde scored a try and A. Walsh converted it.
