SALES TAX ON CARS
Reduction Urged
The Government should be asked to reduce sales tax on motor vehicles from 33 1-3 per cent, to 20 per cent, in view of the increased revenue which will result from the greater number• of vehicles imported under the Government’s recent release. says a remit to be discussed at the annual meeting of the South Island Motor Union at Te Anau on September 13. The remit comes from the Southland Automobile Association.
An Otago Automobile Association remit says the Government should be asked to allow local authorities to fine for minor parking offences on the spot “to simplify procedure. avoid publicity and reduce court costs to the offenders.”
