INQUIRY ON CRASH

Kaimai Range DC3 (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. August 15. Sir Arthur Tyndall will be president of a Court of Inquiry into the loss of a National Airways Corporation DC3 aircraft in the Kaimai ranges on July 3, the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) announced today Sir Arthur Tyndall is Judge of the Court of Arbitration. Members of the court will be Squadron Leader D. R. H Thomas, officer commanding No. 42 Squadron. R.N.Z.A.F and Captain F. C. Allen, a retired captain of the National Airways Corporation.

The terms of reference will be to establish the time and place of an accident that took place in the Kaimai ranges on July 3 to a registered aircraft marked ZX-AYZ. The court will be required to establish the cause of the accident and the circumstances in which it arose. The Court will be required to establish in the interests of public safety any facts which should be known to the authorities charged with the administration of civil aviation so the appropriate measures may be taken for the safety of persons engaged in aviation.

The time and place of the inquiry would be announced soon, said Mr McAlpine
