12-5 Loss To Northland

Brilliantly led by the former All Black, R. J. Conway, Bay of Plenty beat Northland 12-5 in a crowd-pleasing Rugby match at Whakatane today, after leading 6-5 at half-time.

The Bay of Plenty forwards played magnificently in the loose and were the architects of victory. They frequently bustled North Auckland’s inside backs into error.

For Bay of Plenty, P. J. Goodhew scored a try and C. Fox kicked three penalty goals. J. Houlihan scored a try and M. Walters kicked the conversion for Northland.

Navy Wins Again The Naw won the interservices cadet Rugby tournament which ended at Woodbourne today. In the final match, the Navy beat the Air Force, 17-3, after leading 14-3 at half-time, to retain the championship. The Navy had a win and a draw, the Air Force was run-ner-up, with a win and a loss, and the Army had a draw tnd a loss. Inter-island Police
