TRUCE PLEA IGNORED

March Nearly Sparked Riot (W.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) GOLDSBORO (North Carolina), August 15 About 600 Negro integrationists, ignoring a plea by the city’s aidermen and a bi-racial committee for a 60day truce in anti-segregation demonstrations, last night staged a parade through Goldsboro that almost ended in a full-scale riot, the Associated Press reported. The marchers were heckled by a crowd of about 2000 whites and when the parade broke up, several stones and pieces of broken glass were thrown by both sides. But the police moved in quickly to disperse the crowds before the violence got out of hand. No arrests were made.
