U.S. Sets 1967 For Flight (N ZP A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 15 America’s supersonic airliner is expected to be ready to fly by late in 1967. about a year after the AngloFrench Concorde airliner. Tenders for the aircraft would have to be submitted by January 15. After each proposal had been evaluated by the Government and the airlines, a contract would be signed by May 1 with one or more manufacturers for detailed designs to be submitted within the following 12 months.
Two “pre-production prototype aircraft would then be built for testing. The administrator of the United States Federal Aviation Agency (Mr Najeeb Haiaby) said the United States Government was seeking expert financial advice on the plane. "We are seeking very safe financial advice on such things as how to sell the planes abroad, and how the airlines or the air travellers may pay back the taxpayers,” he said.
