The West German Cabinet decided yesterday to accept the Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty. But there is a proviso. Guarantees against East Germany must be provided by the United States.

They are meant to keep the treaty from helping East Germany's Communist Government gain international recognition by becoming a signatory. Dr. Adenauer and his Cabday after the United States Senate hearings on the treaty. The West German Government spokesman. Mr Guenther von Hase, indicated final action will then be, taken. Mr von Hase said: "The Government is determined that German interests are not to be harmed by the treaty." The problem of German reunification must be kept constantly on the table.

“We welcome all steps toward a lessening of international tensions providing that the pauses of these tensions are reduced at the same time.’’ he said. “We resist every move to accept the status quo and make permanent the division of Germany.” Reuter said Dr. Adenauer and his Cabinet had decided provisionally to sign the treaty No formal decision would be made until after the United States Secretary of State (Mr Rusk) reported to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
