Poor Grouse Opening

(Special Crspdt. N.ZJ’A.) LONDON, August 14. Diners ait one London hotel were yesterday being offered a single grouse at £4 15s. Other hotels charged £3 15s, £3 3s, or £3. The grouse-shooting season opened disappointingly on Maid ay on Scottish and Yorkshire moors. Some owners decided not to shoot at all, and others took out only very small parties because of the scarcity of birds and their very small size.

The hard winter has taken a heavy toll and there are fewer young birds about. London prices are expected to be halved as the week progresses and more birds reach the capital.

Building Falls.—A threestorey tenement building collapsed during torrential rain in Bombay yesterday, killing eight and injuring 19. —Bombay, August 14.
