Aug. 20 Glsbome'a 20-year-old boidng twins, Peter and Paul Lister, both won titles in successive fights when the Australian and New Zealand championships were held in Sydney tonight Peter, who fought first, outpointed R. Ryan in three rounds and won narrowly to take the light-weight title. Ryan. a rugged boxer, forced the pace all the way, but Lister boxed better in the final round. Paul was more impressive In flooring R. Merrick three times in his light welter-weight contest which was stopped by the referee in the third round. New Zealand’s team had made a great start, winning two earlier bouts. Young continued his unbeaten run in Australia with a unanimous win on points over Booth in the fly-weight. Then the Dunedin bantam-weight. L. Hunter scored his second win in two fights over Australia s Empire Games gold medallist. J. Dynevor. Results were (New Zealand names first): Fly-weight.—W. Young (Auckland) beat L. Booth on points. Bantam-weight. —L. Hunter (Dunedin) beat J. Dynevor on — Peter Lister (Gisborne) neat R. Ryan on P °L?ght Welter-weight. Peul Lister (Gisborne) beat R. Merrick technical knock-out In the third round. Welter-weight. B. Maunsell (Tlmaru) lost to J. Kewin. point*.
