Candidates should possess a degree or equivalent qualification and be members of the R.A.1.A., R.1.8A., or an equivalent professional institute. Experience in both practice and research is desirable. The appointee will be required to deputise for the Consultant Architect on committees and to assist him generally in his duties. Applicants, therefore, should be capable designers in the widest senoe and be able to conduct investigations into various aspects of building bearing on University building problems. The Consultant Architect’s office is small but it is engaged in a wide variety of work concerned w r ith the development of the University. The Consultant Architect has three main responsibilities Firstly, he advises the University about the planning and design of the campus as a whole Secondly, he acts as Staff Architect within the administrative framework of the Universitv. Thirdly, he acts as architect m association with firms commissioned by the University for particular buildings in order to ensure that there is consistency in design throughout the campus.
