RAM HOGGET, EWE SALE

No Demand For Stock

Very little buying demand was shown for stock entered in the fourteenth Grand National ram hogget and registered ewe sale at the Addington show grounds yesterday. Less than half the Southdown ram hoggets found a buyer, and those which did were sold from 3Jgns to BJgns. A pen of three Dorset Horn ram hoggets were the only other rams to find a buyer and these sold for lOgns. Dorset Downs, South Suffolks. South Hampshire Downs and Hampshire Down cross hoggets were also offered but were all passed In many cases no bids were received.

In the ewe classes the majority of the offering was a line of Romneys from F. H. Cliittock’s Rose stud, at Lincoln. He offered 40 ewes, 12 of which were passed, while the others sold from !sgns to 30gns. Twelve Border Leicester ewes sold for sjgns and sgns, with eight being sold at the lower price The sale was conducted by Pyne, Gould. Guinness Ltd.

Group Effort. — All departments of the school were taking an active interest in the Bumside High School production of “The Winslow Boy" on August 20 and 21. the headmaster (Mr C. Cross' told the school board of governors. As well as preparing sets and costumes, pupils were screen-printing posters and programme covers were being produced from art class lino cuts.
