MOORE OUT FOR MONTH

Interference Charge

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 4.

The jockey George Moore, the leading Sydney rider last season with 1061 winners, yesterday was suspended by the Rosehill Stewards until August 31. He was found guilty of causing interference to Grecian Vale and Want two furlongs from the finish of the Welter Handicap.

Moore went on to win the race on Straight Ahead, 11/8, by three lengths from Kiopana, 66/1, with Frontlet, 11/2, a length away third. The chief steward, Mr J. Bourke, in suspending Moore, told him he would be allowed to ride again on August 31, a Saturday. The stewards found that Moore had allowed Straight Ahead to veer in and interfere with Want and Grecian Vale. Moore’s suspension means that connexions will now have to engage another jockey to ride Sky High in the Canterbury Stakes at Canterbury next Saturday.
