HOW NO OFFENCE WON THE GRAND NATIONAL.—TOP LEFT: With three miles and 18 fences to go. Dusky Prince (inside) and No Offence take the second fence of the stand double in the first round of the Grand National at Riccarton on Saturday. The top-weight, Golden Defaulter, is just rising to the fence behind them, and Double Fling is approaching. The leader at that stage, Musketeer, had already cleared the fence. TOP RIGHT: A. K. Lawrence on Golden Defaulter (nearest camera) has trouble keeping balance after clearing the brush fence entering the back straight with eight furlongs and a half to go. No Offence is just clearing the fence behind the leader, Musketeer. BOTTOM LEFT: No Offence clears the last fence, the carriage paddock brush, with a good break on Frewhon. King Ora, which came fourth, is next. Golden Defaulter was just inside these two. BOTTOM RIGHT: No Offence passes the post with a lead of three lengths and a half on Erewhon. Golden Defaulter is further back.
