Drove Trucks To Safety

(N.Z. Press Association) WANGANUI. Aug 4 A 21-year-old driver who saw a house ablaze in Wanganui East last night drove two trucks endangered by the intense heat to safety. The house, at 12 Pehi street, which had been a teacher's idea to bouse Maori families when they arrived in the city, was gutted. Only the front of the unoccupied home and some charred frames were left standing. The driver, Mr S. Back, of 13 Marshall avenue, rushed to a coal merchant's yard, next door to the flaming house, and drove two trucks to safety.
