LETTER OF THE LAW

(N Z.P .A.-Reuter— Copyright) HAYWARDS HEATH, Aug 4. Occupants of a brand-new house in Haywards Heath, Southern England, have been ordered to keep their frontdoor open day and night so that passers-by can walk tn, trample across their dining room, and blunder out through their back garden Into the fields beyond. The reason: the house had been built across a public footpath. An official of the Haywards Heath Council said the inconvenient living conditions would have to persist until the council had considered an application for the path to be officially diverted round the new house.
