LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSION ASHBURTON-GERALDINE COUNTIES PROPOSED ALTERATION OF BOUNDARIES (MESOPOTAMIA HOLDINGS AND MT. GERALD AREA) PROVISIONAL SCHEME
The Local Government Commission prepared on July 30. 1963. a Provisional Scheme providing for the exclusion of an area of approximately 125,750 acres from Ashburton County and its inclusion in Geraldine County. This area is more specifically described in the Schedule to the Provisional Scheme, copies of which have been deposited and are available for inspection, together with a map delineating the area, at this office and the offices of the Ashburton County Council, Ashburton, and the Geraldine County Council, Geraldine. Pursuant to Section 19 (1) of the Local Government Commission Act. 1961, written objections to the Provisional Scheme stating the grounds thereof, may be lodged with the undersigned not later than September 6. 1963. Should no objections be lodged by that date the Local Government Commission will approve the Provisional Scheme as a Final Scheme.

IT is the intention of the Lyttelton Borough Council to reorganise its refuse collection services. On and after Monday, August 12, 1963. the following provisions will apply: (1) Refuse collected will be limited to— Householders, 1 tin. Business Premieses: 2 tins with 1 additional tin where occupiers live on the premises. Each tin must not exceed the standard size of 2J cub. ft. (2) One collection only will be made per week. In Lyttelton this will be made on Mondays. Should a public holiday fall on a Monday the collection will be made on the next working day. The collection at Diamond Harbour will be made on each Wednesday. (3) All refuse bins must be placed on the edge of the kerb by 7.30 a.m. on the day of the collection. (4) All vegetable or obnoxious matter must be wrapped in paper. (5) Residents may themselves tip refuse at the controlled tipping area as follows: LYTTELTON: Mondays and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. DIAMOND HARBOUR: Wednesdays and Saturdays. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No obnoxious matter is to be tipped on Saturdays.
