SOLDIER FOR A DAY.—Graeme Chailands, aged 10, of Mapperley, Nottinghamshire, wrote to the commanding officer of the Sherwood Foresters, saying he wanted to join the Anny, and was invited to do so for one day. An Army vehicle called for him, and when he arrived at the Whittington Barracks, Lichfield, the guard was turned out to give him a ceremonial welcome. He was fitted with a specially-made uniform, and spent the day practising on the rifle range, eating in the canteen, and taking the salute at a practice march-past. He is shown Inspecting the bandsmen, accompanied by the commanding officer. As a parting gift he was given his uniform.
