The captain of the South African Rugby League side. D. 8. P. Aekernwnn. will not piss the tour of New A fitlgwr injury which he suflered durtne the second match of the Australian section of tlie tour and which he further injured in the last game m Australia is the reason for his withdrawal.
Ackermann said yesterday he was very sorry he wiU not be playing today as he had fond memories of the last Ume he played in Christchurch as a member of the South African Rugby team against the All Macks at Lancaster Park in Two other members of that teem W. Rosenberg and T Van VoUenhoven. are both playing league in South Africa but had not been available for the tour. Ackermann said that his two partners tn the powerful looseforward trio of the IMS sldcD Refief and G. Lochner—had retired
The change over to league had suited his atyla of piay. he said, and as yet he nad no Intention of retiring His finger would be examined in Auckland to see if an operation was required
