Production Ceases (From Our Own Reporter) HOKITIKA, August 1. Production ceased on Wednesday at the Hokitika brewery of Robert Ford and Company, Ltd., after 34 years of business. A few men are still employed in selling liquor stocks on hand. As reported yesterday the special shareholders’ meeting on Wednesday to discuss liquidation was adjourned until October 31 to enable the completion of any negotiations for the disposal of assets.
C.A.G.A. Profit Rises 14 p.c. (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE, July 31. Consolidated net profit of Commercial and General Acceptance Company, Ltd., hirepurchase financier, rose by £65.696 or 14 per cent., to £534.237 for the year ended June 30. Profit rose £12,853 in the previous year. Dividend is maintained at 10 per cent, for the fourth successive year, including a final 5 per cent. Earning rate on average capital rises from 12.4 to 13.4 per cent, directors’ preliminary report states.
