HOME-AID SERVICE

Discussions To Be Held The effect on the Nurse Maude Association’s District Nursing home-aid service of the Government’s new scheme for free home add is to be discussed between the association and the North Canterbury Hospital Board. The Government’s intention is to provide free home aid through hospital boards in cases when such aid will help to keep the recipient out of hospital; but the Nurse Mauc- Association, which at present provides what the secretary of the board (Mr J. G. Laurenson) described as “a very efficient home-aid service,” makes a nominal charge for its service. The aim of the discussions will be to work out a basis for the operation of the Government scheme through the association. A complication is that the service provided by the association is slightly wider in scope than that proposed by the Government.
