Notifiable Diseases
One case of industrial dermatitis was notified in the Christchurch health district last week. The case was in a worker using an epoxy-resin adhesive in tiling operations in the Christchurch-Lyttelton road tunnel, and brought the total notifications in workers from this job to 10. During the week, four cases of pulmonary tuberculosis were notified, the sufferers being two men and a woman in Christchurch city and a woman in Waimairi county. There was a case of ophthalmia neonatorum in a Christchurch hospital, and a yearold boy in Christchurch was notified ■ with salmonellosis from a source not yet identified.
A girl of two years and a half spent a day in the Christchurch Hospital last week after eating an unknown number of aspirin tablets.
Help For Africa.— The Development Assistance Committees of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development met today to discuss assistance to East Africa.—Paris, July 18.
