New Commander For Army Unit

(JV.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. July 22. For the first time in the Northern Military District a post-w ar officer ha« been appointed to the command of a major territorial unit and been promoted to lieutenantcolonel. He is Lieutenant-Colonel R. M. Grierson, aged 35, of Auckland, who Is now commanding officer of the Ist Field Regiment. Royal New Zealand Artillery. He has taken over from LieutenantColonel A. M. Smith. Lieutenant-Colonel Grierson, who is a civil engineer and surveyor, is also AD C. to the Governor -General (Sir Bernard FerguMon). He joined the Territorial Force in 1961 and was commissioned immediately.
