Record Of City Nurses
When Miss J, Taylor, at present matron of the Princess Margaret Hospital, takes up her new post as matron-in-chief to the Auckland Hospital Board, the three major nursing posts in New Zealand (outside the Health Department) will be held by graduates of the Christchurch School of Nursing.
Mrs M. Chambers (North Canterbury Hospital Board matron-in-chief) and Miss I. Tolerton (matron-in-chief to the Wellington Hospital Board) trained in Christchurch. Miss Tolerton was matron of the Burwood Hospital before taking up her present appointment.
Miss N. Kinross, supervising matron to the Southland Hospital Board’s nursing staff, is also Christchurch-trained, as is Miss S. Rolls, another former matron at Burwood, who is now head of the Nelson Hospital Board’s nursing staff ; Miss D. Talbot, a Christchurch nursing graduate, is matron of the Wairau Hospital. Blenheim. Orbell. who is| now principal of the Post- j graduate School for Nurses in | Wellington and assistant director of education in the department’s Nursing Division.
