Stewart In Form For University

In a very tense contest, University made a determined eflfort to beat Selwyn I,'and although losing the last doubles match, it shared the points for a draw, 14 matches all, when the ninth round of the senior table tennis competition was held on Thursday, day. D. D M. Stewart (University), who upset B. D. P. Williamson in the Canterbury championships, was in good form, and although being surprisingly beaten by A. Vermes, he smashed his way to a comfortable win over the Canterbury representative, V. N. Brightwell. R. H. Court (University) added to the list of upsets when he defeated Vermes in another tight match. Wallabies Red increased its lead in the competition when it beat “Star” 9-3. Three Wins Each

Miss F. Inglis (Star) infused the only life in the match when she beat an unwell K. F. Stevenson. M. A.

Cox and N. B. Radford (Wallabies Red) added to their good records with a further three wins each. Linwood gained its first points since being promoted to senior grade when it beat a below form Wallabies Green side, which only battled on after losing the initial advantage. R. J. Orr N. C. Orr and
