BENCH WARRANT A bench warrant for the arrest of Douglas Macbeth Munro, aged 55, was issued on the application of Sergeant Read. Munro had been remanded to yesterday on a charge of assault. FINED £25 Appearing for sentence on a charge oi unlawful sexual intercourse. a youth whose name was suppressed (Mr P. T. Mahon), w’as fined £25. REHEARING A charge of car conversion, against Eric Ronald Alphonsus Gilligan-Kingsley (Mr W. A Wilson), was sustained when the case was reheard. An application for the rehearing had been granted by Mr A. P Blair, S.M. Gilligan-Kingsley was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. . . Mr Wilson said the defence was that Gilligan-Kingsley had been given consent by the owner of the car to take the car at any time he chose. ’ The accused said in evidence that the owner had said to him in a hotel several months previously that he could borrow the car when he wanted to. It was alleged that Cunningham stole the scrap metal from an empty house owned by the Education Board in Hillview street. Evidence was given that Cun. ningham said in a statement to the police that he saw a man demolishing the house and asked him about the metal. He said the man gave him permission to take the metal. He took it and sold it for £2 7s Bd. Cunningham gave evidence along these lines. Evidence for the defence was also given byFrederick Lewis WhaU. "I have observed the witnesses for the defence and I do not believe their evidence," the Magistrate Mid. FINED FOR ASSAULT Saying that he was not satisfied with the accused's evidence the Magistrate convicted Trevor Farrell, aged 32. a plumber, of assaulting Ralph William Griffin, a company manager, on April 7. Farrell pleaded not guilty, and was represented by Mr M J Glue. A fine of £5 was imposed.

The man was convicted of the offences, which occurred between June 7 and 18. a month ago and had been remanded until yesterday for a medical report and sentence.
