BORSTAL TRADE TRAINING

Apprenticeship Credits

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 18.

The New Zealand Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship Committee had decided to give full credit for trade training in Borstal institutions towards apprenticeship time, the retiring Commissioner of Apprentices ‘(Mr H. C. McQueen) said in a statement today. Although the committee did not expect many such apprenticeships, it wished to do what it could to help rehabilitate the boys concerned. The committee has also approved in principle the establishment in Christchurch of a training scheme for Maori boys and a second painting and decorating school to cater for South Island apprentices.
