7th ANTI-TANK REGIMENT
120 Members To Attend Reunion
Members of the 7th New Zealand Anti-Tank Regiment will hold their first reunion this evening at Belfast. About 120 of the 200 South Island members of the regiment will attend.
Brigadier J. M. Mitchell, who commanded the regiment for three years during the war, is unable to attend, so a further informal reunion wiU be held on August 12 at which he will be present. At today’s reunion a former battery commander. Major R. Sleigh, of Waimate. will propose a toast to the regiment, and one of its commanders, Colonel R. Sprosen. of Christchurch, will reply. Formed in 1939, the regiment served in North Africa, Greece, Crete, and Italy. It suffered severe losses in some actions, particularly at Minqar Qaim.
